There are many popular legends, from China for example, that describe a drink which would produce increased energy and restorative results. In the early years, caffeine was derived by boiling certain leaves, bark, and seeds in hot water. The result was a liquid much like the teas that are so common in today’s day and age. You are probably wondering when coffee came into the picture, right? Well, the earliest known mention of coffee was during the ninth century. By the 17th century, coffee was a popular beverage in Europe. In fact, it was during this time that the first coffee shops were opened.

In today’s world, caffeine is more popular than ever before. In fact, more than 120,000 tons of caffeine is consumed worldwide each year. This goes towards drinks such as coffee and tea, as well as popular foods such as chocolate. All in all, there is a long history of caffeine use that has been tracked back to the early Stone Age period. It is hard to imagine that people have been using caffeine for so many years, but it is true.
